INTEGRATING THE EXPRESSIVE ART THERAPIES INTO CLINICAL PRACTICE: An Exploration of Imagery, Symbol, & Ritual
"Only the wounded physician heals and it is only through surviving the personal pain and turmoil of challenging sufferings that one can acquire great wisdom and healing skills" -Carl Jung
One of the best ways to learn is by experience. This group series will help licensed therapists , helping professionals, associates, trainees, and students integrate experiential methods into their clinical practices. A variety of methods will be introduced and experienced, such as Sandplay, Psychodrama, SoulCollage, Creative Writing, Artistic Journaling, and Symbolic Language. Other expressive arts interventions will also be introduced.
Through a personal explorative journey including live demonstration, didactic and experiential instruction, structured small group exercises, and discussion, students will gain hands on therapeutic experience that will enhance each participants lives, as well as, as the perspective they bring to their work. Experiences can be translated and incorporated into a wide range of clinical styles including; psychodynamic, CBT, and solution-focused therapies. The material presented can be applied in individual, couples, family, and group work.
